Getting to and from school safely
As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.
Keep our school community safe by:
- driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
- being a good role model
- never calling your child from across the road
- using the safest place to cross the road.
For parents and carers of younger children
Discuss with your child how to be safe when:
- walking
- in the car
- waiting for, travelling on, and getting off the bus
- riding bikes, scooters and skateboards.
Also talk about and practise:
- safe travel routes
- plans for when unexpected things happen
- what to do in wet weather.
Catching a bus
To be eligible for free travel, students may need to live a minimum distance from their school.
- Year K-2 (Infants) there is no minimum distance
- Years 3-6 (Primary) more than 1.6km straight line distance or at least 2.3km walking
Please advise the school of your Bus Run, so they can assist your child to catch the correct bus from school.
Once you have applied for a school travel pass, the school needs to confirm with NSW Transport that your address is correct. You will receive an email from NSW Transport confirming if your child has been approved for free travel.
If you are not eligible for free bus travel your child may still be able to catch the bus to school for a small fee, please contact the bus provider for more information.
